Five Ten Freerider

When you are tearing down your favorite mountain bike trail in a frenzy of jumps, slides and streams, the last thing you want is to drop your foot off a pedal. Your control and support just shot out the window and your heartrate doubled. There is a solution to slipping feet without having to resort to clipless pedals and the additional hassles they can lead to. Try a pair of Five Ten Freerider shoes.

Not only are they stylish but the Stealth S1 rubber soles give you a phenomenal amount of grip on flat pedals. In fact, there is so much grip it is wise to get used to them on easier tracks before tackling anything really tough. No need to change shoes when you finish riding either. The Five Ten Freeriders are comfortable and practical for everything from walking the pavement to climbing a waterfall.

The durable yet sticky Stealth rubber sole is the base for a great shoe. A double-stitched leather upper and a protective toe box manages to combine durability, safety and style into one attractive package.

As you would expect, a company like Five Ten stands by their product. All Five Ten footwear comes with a one-year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. There is even a 60-day period in which the shoes can be exchanged or returned if the fit of the shoe is incorrect. Naturally also, the shoes MUST be returned in mint condition and with all the original packaging. All warranty and sizing issue returns must have a Return Authorization number issued by the Five Ten Customer Service Department.

Sizing And Fit

Shoes for flat pedal or downhill racing should be a close fit as you don't want your feet sliding inside them. Having said this, they should be comfortable enough for general walking as you will want them to be more of a general purpose shoe. Five Ten Freeriders have built a good reputation as an allround bike, skate and walking shoe.

Construction

Flat pedal shoes will generally have a stiffer midsole for comfort and support. This also helps to protect the foot along with the reinforced leather uppers and toe box. The sole is the lengendary Stealth S1 rubber providing designed to stick to your pedals like duct tape! S1 is also very durable and has great shock-absorbing qualities.

Add to this the protection of of a TPU (Thermoplastic PolyUrethane) toe cap and a TPR (ThermoPlastic Rubber) heel cup and you have a fantastic bike shoe.
