Five Ten Camp Four

When you are out on your favourite trail, the last thing you need is to feel clumsy in a pair of over-weight, bulky hiking boots. Sure, those boots do have their niche but for day-to-day trails nothing beats the fleet-footed feeling you get from a pair of Five Ten Camp Four hiking shoes.

A molded PU (Polyurethane) heel cage is designed to give added stability and support while carrying heavy loads.
A molded combination of Stealth C4 and Stealth S1 rubbers are used in the sole to give that amazingly sticky grip which is the hallmark of all Five Ten shoes. This gives excellent grip on wet or dry surfaces, rock and even ice. The use of S1 also gives great durability to the sole while maintaining high shock-absorbing qualities.
The lace-up closure runs all the way from the toe giving you the choice of how tight or relaxed you wear the shoe.
The Camp Four Range
The Five Ten Camp Four comes in two styles - Mens in a light gray color and Womens in an attractive bergundy. It is worth noting that many men who have narrow feet will find a womens size more comfortable as the shoe tends to be slightly narrower. This solves the problem of sliding around inside your shoe causing blisters and unsure grip.

Camp Four Construction
A rugged Nubuck leather upper protects your feet against the rigours of the trail while having excellent wear characteristics and still being comfortably soft. Remember leather will have a small amount of "give". As the shoe could stretch a half-size, this should be a factor when trying for fit. The upper has a nylon mesh lining to aid with breathability. It should be noted the upper is not waterproof. The removeable insole is contoured for comfort and has perforations to again aid breathability. This gives the ability to change insoles if you should require something different.
The midsole (between the insole and the outsole) is molded EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) which adds softness and flexibility to the sole. There is a shank incorporated which adds stiffness to the sole and support for rugged terrain.
Co-molded Stealth S1/C4 rubber is used in the sole for high friction on almost any surface while maintaining excellent wear characteristics and shock absorbtion. The sole is equipped with a multi-directional tread for good grip no matter what direction your feet are pointing.
An interesting inovation is the molded PU (PolyUrethane) heel cage. This is a feature which gives support when carrying heavy loads such as a backpack. This gives the level of stability and support which you normally have to go to a high-top boot to find.
A TPU (Thermoplastic PolyUrethane) wrap-around toecap adds protection from the inevitable rocks and bumps you will encounter and adds durability to the shoe.
Which Is The Right Size?
Since the Five Ten Camp Four is intended to be a combination hiking and climbing shoe you need to take some care with the fit. Too loose and it will be hazardous while climbing but too tight and walking long distances (and approaches) will cause blisters and pain. The Camp Four has a large range when it comes to lacing up so you can tighten them for the climbs and loosen for the hiking side. The laces extend almost from the toe so you can practically "dial-in" your preferred tightness and comfort level.
